Maquette is the term applied to the artistic works in progress that lead to a final masterpiece. We have often wondered what a Peirson Meyer Right-Bank wine might be like. In 2009 we had the opportunity to obtain Merlot from the Gardner Vineyard that we have worked with on other projects. The resulting wine from the vineyard is luscious, fruit forward, and medium bodied which seemed like an interesting match for our more intense Cabernet Sauvignon. We couldn't be happier with the marriage of the two. Comprised of 50% Merlot from the Gardner Vineyard and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon from Pritchard Hill, the 2009 Maquette is one of those delicious wines that will simply disappear once the cork is pulled.
