2010 Peirson Meyer Sauvignon Blanc, Ryan's Vineyard, Napa Valley

The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Ryan's Vineyard is first class all the way. It boasts fabulous definition in its bouquet and beautifully articulated layers of varietal, mineral-laced fruit. Lemon, mint, crushed rocks and sage linger on the finish. This is easily one of the very finest Sauvignons being made in Napa Valley today. With some time in the glass, the wine is simply striking. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. -92 pts.

2009 Peirson Meyer Sauvignon Blanc, Ryan’s Vineyard, Napa Valley

Readers looking for a crisp, fresh, melony, floral-scented Sauvignon Blanc offering hints of Granny Smith apple skins should check out Pierson Meyer's 2009. This light to medium-bodied, zesty Sauvignon comes from a vineyard in the Oak Knoll section of Napa Valley. Its malolactic fermentation has been blocked and the wine was aged in neutral oak. The result is a vivid, fresh, lively Sauvignon to drink over the next 1-2 years. -88 pts.
